The Achill Marathon is a fundraising event for the recently established charity, Silent Masses. This is what they say about themselves: Silent Masses is a charity that 'speaks up' for people unable to speak up for themselves. We represent thousands of voices that feel they cannot make a difference on their own. We make it easy for someone to make that difference. Our focus now is the genocide in Darfur in Sudan where more than 400,000 people have been slaughtered. We are campaigning for the bloodshed to stop, we want to protect these people and are using the internet to gather your voices collectively to make our governments and world organisations aware of our disgust. We insist on the permanent cessation of these atrocities.
Running this race you join the thousands of silent masses that are making a difference for the people of Darfur and for the masses of people that need our help. Check out our wesite www.silentmasses.com.
Full details of the Achill Marathon, including how to register, are available on the www.achillmarathon.com Web site.
