Féile Bia Na Mara / Seafood Festival
19th - 22nd July 2012
 The 2012 Féile Bia Na Mara / Achill Seafood Festival will take place from the 19th to 22nd July on Achill Island and surrounding areas, on the west coast of Ireland.
This family-friendly festival celebrates the maritime heritage of the Achill region and showcases the rich harvest of fish, seafood and even edible sea vegetables (seaweed) on offer from its Atlantic waters. Highlights of the event include a Gala Seafood Buffet, an 'Achill's Got Talent' contest, Cailín óg & Buachaill óg Competition, seaweed safaris, numerous cookery demonstrations with high profile chefs, tastings, family sandcastle competition, fresh fish markets and much, much more. "Féile Bia Na Mara was such an inspiring festival, I was so happy to be part of it. I am not sure if it was the magical scenery or the freshly caught fish or indeed the warmth of the people from Achill Island that made it such a unforgetable weekend. The people running this festival thought of everything from talent competitions to island walks and of course fish cookery demonstrations and fish feasts, most definitely a weekend for every foodies calendar, my car was packed with fresh Achill shrimps when I left the island. I for one will be back in 2010!"
