The 2010 Féile Bia Na Mara / Seafood Festival will take place from 15th to 18th July.

The 2009 relaunch of the long-running Féile Bia Na Mara / Achill Seafood Festival ran from the 9th to the 13th July. This highly successful event included cookery demonstrations from TV chef Clodagh McKenna along with demonstrations from local chefs, seafood tasting sessions, walks, talks, races and lots of entertainment. A message from Clodagh McKenna:
"Féile Bia Na Mara was such an inspiring festival, I was so happy to be part of it. I am not sure if it was the magical scenery or the freshly caught fish or indeed the warmth of the people from Achill Island that made it such a unforgetable weekend. The people running this festival thought of everything from talent competitions to island walks and of course fish cookery demonstrations and fish feasts, most definitely a weekend for every foodies calendar, my car was packed with fresh Achill shrimps when I left the island. I for one will be back in 2010!"

The Achill Féile Bia Na Mara (Seafood Festival) celebrates Achill Island's maritime culture and the rich harvest of its Atlantic waters.

This year's Festival includes seafood tastings, cookery demonstrations and the Achill's Got Talent competition.
One of the highlights will be the visit of TV chef and author Clodagh McKenna (right), who will be performing the official opening the Festival. She will be a judge for the recipe competition as well as providing a cookery demonstration. Clodagh, author of 'Fresh From The Sea' and 'The Irish Farmers Market Cookbook', will also be signing copies of her books during the Festival.

The Coastal Training Unit of BIM (Bord Iascaigh Mhara, the Irish Sea Fisheries Board) will be holding two sets of 3 day safety training courses for fishermen, scheduled to take place around the Féile Bia Na Mara. Full Details of Safety Courses.
Seafood Recipe Competition A Seafood Recipe Competition is being held, with the winning entry to be chosen by Clodagh McKenna. 1st prize is a two-night stay (including dinner) at Achill Cliff House.

- Bord Iascaigh Mara (BIM) mobile Coastal Training Unit
- The Bord Iascaigh Mara (BIM) mobile Coastal Training Unit will be on hand providing information on the training available under BIM's Stay Safe at Sea initiative for fishermen, as well as highlighting opportunities for those thinking about a career in the seafood industry. The Unit will be open to the public, who are very welcome to come and have a look at the state-of-the-art facilities and pick up information on the nutritional benefits of including fish in the diet.
