Collins Complete Irish Birds by David Cabot
This fully illustrated 240-page guide to the birds of Ireland includes essential identification characteristics for each species, notes on distribution, size of population and migration for each species, and introductions to different bird groups to help readers distinguish similar species. It groups birds according to the major habitats in which they are likely to be seen, which for Achill includes coastal areas (both rocky coasts and soft shores) and moorland and upland.

From 'About This Book':
This book has been specially designed for those with a general interest in Irish birds who would like a simple, easy-to-use and well-illustrated guide to the most frequently occuring birds in Ireland. Rare and unusual species have been deliberately left out as these are for the more experienced bird watcher and several other books already cater for these interests. However, a few scarce birds, such as the Roseate Tern, have been included when they are of particular Irish significance. So, 167 birds have been carefully selected for this guide on the basis that they are the most likely to be encountered by the beginner and the non-specialist bird watcher.
