Tuesday 16th March 2010:
Welcome Reception:
Welcome wine and cracker reception at Óstán Oileán Acla to brief participants on walks festival timetable.
Wednesday 17th March 2010:
This is a free day and two options are available:
Walk with the Achill Pipebands A unique opportunity to walk and march with the Achill Pipe Bands through the villages of lower Achill and listen to the music of the highland pipes and drums.
Self-Guided Walks Choose a route out of the Achill walks booklet (see our Walks Guides to view the 14 circular walks detailed in the Achill walks booklet).
We will be delighted to give advice on either option.
Thursday 18th March 2010:
Slievemore (672m)
Come join Tomás and his team as they expertly guide you across Achill's second highest hill. Scramble along its north face terrace and pass under the Skull. Hear stories of its history and caves. Enjoy the situation of this delightful hill that offers a 360 degree vista of the surrounding hills, sea and islands.
Friday 19th March 2010:
Annagh Strand
Visit this remote area of Achill and explore the booley village, megalithic tomb and corrie lake with Tomás. Experience the tranquillity of this peaceful area.
Night Walk No it is not a pub crawl but an opportunity to experience Achill's views and wildlife under the stars. A headtorch or good handtorch will be required.
Saturday 20th March 2010:
Croaghaun (668m)
Climb Achill's highest hill via the western ridge which brings you on to the highest seacliffs in Europe with its unforgettable and airy views. Go where only the feral goats dare to tread. Of course you will be guided by Tomás on this unforgettable climb.
Sunday 21st March 2010:
Knockmore (337m)
A surprising hill with lots of variety. There is an option to try an ABSEIL with Tomás. All specialist equipment will be provided – no pressure!

About Tomás
Your Guide Tomás is a qualified I.M.L. and a member of U.I.M.L.A. and M.C.I. Tomás also holds the Winter Mtn. Leader and Rockclimbing leader qualifications. Tomás is an Achill native with an insight into Achill's history and archaeology.

The International Mountain Leader is the recognised qualification for leading others professionally (ie. for reward) throughout Ireland, Europe and abroad.
All walks guided by Tomás are covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance and Full Public Liability Insurance.

- Numbers on each walk are restricted for safety and to adhere to the principles of the Countryside Code and sustainable walking based on Leave No Trace
